MacArthur Fundamental Intermediate School Parent Information Meeting Reunión Informativa Para Padres

What is a Fundamental School? Accountability on students, parents and school staff English only instruction Rigorous homework schedule Academic emphasis in all classes No attendance area Strong parent commitment

Student Expectations: All students sign a contract to do the following: –Strive for excellence in citizenship and academics –Comply with the Code of Student Conduct –Complete all requirements for specific subject in order to earn promotion –Dress according the school Dress Code and/or Uniform Policy.

Student Expectations: All students sign a contract to do the following: –Do all work required in all classes –Be respectful of all students, teachers, staff and guests at all times. –Be punctual to all classes, detentions, Saturday School functions unless ill or excused for school business.

Parent Expectations: All parents sign a contract to do the following: Support the goals and philosophy of the fundamental school program. Support the fundamental school philosophy. Participate in conferences with school personnel when requested. Support decisions mutually agreed upon between parent and the school.

Parent Expectations: All parents sign a contract to do the following: Know and support the school Homework Policy and provide conditions at home that are conducive to studying. Read the school Code of Student Conduct with your child. Know and support the MacArthur Dress Code Policy/District Uniform Policy. Be responsible for your child’s regular attendance and punctuality. Comply with all school, district and city policies and regulations.

Attendance Expectations: Students will be in every class unless ill or excused for school business. Permission will not be granted for extended absences. Medical and dental appointments should be made for after school hours.

Important Dates for Priority Registration: 1/21/11 - Letter of Intent Due to Grade 5 Teacher 2/9/11 by 4:00 p.m. - Pre-registration packets (forms) are completed and returned to the Fundamental Intermediate School Please do not put Pre-registration packets (forms) under the door after 4:00 p.m.

Important Dates for Priority Registration - Siblings: 1/11/11 – Priority letters are sent home through 1 st period teacher 2/1/11 – 2/9/11 – Sibling Pre-registration packets (forms) must be picked up from Fundamental Intermediate school office 2/9/11 by 4:00 p.m. - Pre-registration packets (forms) are completed and returned to the Fundamental Intermediate School Please do not put Pre-registration packets (forms) under the door after 4:00 p.m.

Important Dates for Open Registration: Registration will be conducted by lottery. 1/31/11 – 2/18/11 – Lottery cards will be available for pick-up and submission at the three Fundamental Intermediate Schools. Office Hours are from 8a.m. – 4p.m. Remember that address verification is required to fill out a lottery card. 2/25/11 – Lottery results are posted 2/28/11 – 3/11/11 – Parents of selected lottery numbers must pick up a Pre-registration packet. 3/11/11 by 4:00 p.m. - Pre-registration packets (forms) are completed and returned to the Fundamental Intermediate School
