Romeo and Juliet Theme They were in love with their outer appearances, not their true personalities. You cannot just love someone by looking at them. You need time to get to know them. Their love was over dramatic and not true, which led to worse matters over something that wasn’t real.

Research Question What role does teenage love play on suicidal thoughts or actions? Romeo and Juliet’s teen “love” lead to tragic deaths. They thought they could not live with out each other, so when Juliet “died” Romeo took his life. This lead to Juliet finding Romeo dead, and killing herself too.

Romeo and Juliet Quote When Romeo first sees Juliet he says, "Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night. Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope’s ear. Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear. So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows. As yonder lady o'er her fellows shows. The measure done, I’ll watch her place of stand, And, touching hers, make blessèd my rude hand. Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night" (Shakespeare ).

Teens Committing Suicide Suicide rates for teens have tripled in the past few decades out of 100,000 teenagers from the age committed suicide in the year percent of 30,000 suicides were committed by teens in People that die from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, lung disease, and pneumonia combined, still has a lower number than the amount of teenage suicides in America.

Quote Researchers have said, "Suicide is a public health problem that transcends geographical boundaries. Behind the statistics on completed suicides are the troubling large numbers of Americans who think about(8.5 million), plan for(2.4 million), and attempt(1.1 million)suicide every year”.

Attempting Suicide Individuals who die from suicide, represent a fraction of those who consider or attempt suicide. There are between 8 and 25 attempted suicides for every suicide death. One out of thirteen high school students have attempted committing suicide. 700,000 students try to commit suicide every year. 50 percent of high school students have at least thought about committing suicide.

Quote Researchers have said, "For every teenager who commits suicide, 100 more will try. Every year, one in 13 high school students attempts suicide, a 1997 federally funded Youth Risk Behavior Survey found. Half of all high school students report they have "seriously considered" suicide by the time they graduate. That's an estimated 700,000 American high school students annually who attempt to kill themselves, and millions who say they have contemplated doing so".

Depression Stirs Suicide In the U.S., about four million teens from ages nine to seventeen have a mental disorder. 90 percent of teens who take their lives had emotional issues that could have been treated. The depression rate within younger adults has been growing. That is because the average age of puberty is going down, and depression usually starts happening after puberty. Young adults that are depressed are five times more likely to attempt suicide. About 3.5 million young adults suffer from depression. Of those teens 3 million have reported having suicidal thoughts.

Why Teens are Depressed Depression in teens is caused from what is going on around them. Teens are sensitive to what happens between their parents and issues home. -Parents fighting or trouble between friends can make a teen depressed. Three leading causes of depression Moving away Death of a loved one A break up from a relationship.

Quote Researches have found, “Recent research into the cause of suicide seems to indicate that feelings of hopelessness is a predictor of suicidal behavior”.

Modern Day Teens Teens let some of the smallest things get to them, leading to worse situations. They don’t think of the serious consequences, they just want to run away from their problems. They don’t have enough experience to know their life will get better, and it’s just a bump in the road. The depression they build on themselves are from things that can be fixed.

Romeo and Juliet Quote Romeo says. "Shall I believe That unsubstantial death is amorous, And that the lean abhorrèd monster keeps Thee here in dark to be his paramour? For fear of that, I still will stay with thee, And never from this palace of dim night depart again. Here, here will I remain With worms that are thy chamber maids. Oh, here Will I set up my everlasting rest," (Shakespeare ).

Romeo and Juliet They fell in “love” within the matter of 24 hours, making them not having a true relationship. Their parents’ feud got in their way making matters worse, resulting in lying and sadness. When Romeo was abandoned, Juliet was willing to fake a death to run away with a him who she had just met a week prior. Without each other, they both thought they couldn’t stand to live because they “loved” each other so much. Romeo’s suicide had also led to Juliet taking her life also.

Romeo and Juliet Quote Juliet says, "What’s here? A cup, closed in my true love’s hand?. Poison, I see, hath been his timeless end. O churl, drunk all, and left no friendly drop. To help me after? I will kiss thy lips. Haply some poison yet doth hang on them,. To make me die with a restorative"(Shakespeare ).

Thesis Statement The lack of realness in teenage love can result in suicidal thoughts or actions.
