Friday 18 th December 2015 Advent Mass

The angel Gabriel from heaven came, His wings as drifted snow, he eyes as flame, "All hail," he said thou lowly maiden Mary, Most highly favoured lady, Gloria!

"For know, a blessed mother thou shalt be, All generations laud and honour thee, Thy son shall be Emmanuel, by seers foretold; Most highly favoured lady, Gloria!

The gentle Mary meekly bowed her head, 'To me be as it please to God,' she said 'My soul shall laud and magnify his holy name': Most highly favoured lady, Gloria!

Of her, Emmanuel, the Christ was born, In Bethlehem, all on a Christmas morn, And Christian folk throughout the world will ever say Most highly favoured lady, Gloria!

The Lord be with you And with your spirit

I confess to almighty God, and to you my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned. In my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault, therefore I ask blessed Mary, ever Virgin, all the angels and saints, and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Kyrie Eleison (Led by Mrs. Traynar) Kyrie Kyrie Eleison Kyrie Kyrie Eleison Christe Christe Eleison Christe Christe Eleison Kyrie Kyrie Eleison Kyrie Kyrie Eleison

First Reading The word of the Lord ALL: Thanks be to God Responsorial Psalm ALL: God has been good to us

Gospel Acclamation Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia Glory to God in the highest and peace to his people on Earth. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia The Gospel The Lord be with you. ALL: And with your spirit. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke ALL: Glory to you, O Lord. Gospel The Gospel of the Lord. ALL: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Bidding prayers Reader: Lord, in your mercy All: Hear our prayer

Let us now ask Mary to join her prayers with ours as we say: Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with thee Blessed art thou amongst women, And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen

Take our bread, we ask you, take our hearts, we love you, take our lives, oh Father, we are yours, we are yours. Yours as we stand at the table you set, yours as we eat the bread our hearts can't forget. We are the signs of your life with us yet; we are yours, we are yours. Take our bread, we ask you, take our hearts, we love you, take our lives, oh Father, we are yours, we are yours.

Your holy people stand washed in your blood, spirit-filled, yet hungry, we await your food. Poor though we are, we have brought ourselves to you: we are yours, we are yours. Take our bread, we ask you, take our hearts, we love you, take our lives, oh Father, we are yours, we are yours.

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you: fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life. Blessed be God for ever. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you: fruit of the vine and work of human hands it will become our spiritual drink. Blessed be God for ever.

Pray, brothers and sisters, That my sacrifice and yours May be acceptable to God, The almighty Father. May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands For the praise and glory of his name, For our good, And the good of all his holy Church. Amen

Eucharistic prayer The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just.

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

The mystery of faith We proclaim you death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again. Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, for ever and ever. Amen!

At the Saviour’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come, thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our trespasses As we forgive those who trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.

Deliver us Lord, from every evil, and grant us peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. For the Kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever

Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles; Peace I leave you, my peace I give you; look not on our sin, but on the faith of your Church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will. Who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you always And with your spirit. Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.

Behold the lamb of God, Behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are we who are called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

During Communion, we can use the altar to help us pray: Lord, I adore you Lord, Ilove you Lord, Ithank you for (thank God for something) Lord, Iask you to (ask God to help somebody) Lord, Iremember you now and forever. Amen Prayer during Communion

Stille Nacht, heilige nacht alles schlaft, einsam wacht. Nur das traute hochheilige paar, holder knabe im lockigen haar. Schlaf in himmlischer ruh!

Silent night, holy night Son of God, love’s pure light radiant beams from thy holy face, With the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord at thy birth, Jesus, Lord at thy birth. Silent night, holy night, Shepherds quake at the sight Glories stream from heaven above, Heavenly hosts sing Halleujah, Christ the saviour is born Christ the saviour is born.

Final Blessing The Lord be with you And with your spirit. May almighty God bless you, the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen Go in peace Thanks be to God

I had a dream that I was standing on a hillside, And all the lights of town were shining far below When up in the air beautiful voices Sing a new song, let everyone know. Oh, and love shone down Over the hills and over the valleys Oh, and love shone down Over the world.

Somebody spoke to me, I knew it was an angel. He said, “There’s something that I think you ought to know,” Then he just smiled, said, “Don’t be afraid now,” Sing a new song, let everyone know. Oh, and love shone down Over the hills and over the valleys Oh, and love shone down Over the world.

And then he told me all about the baby Jesus, How to find him, where exactly I should go. Then he was joined by millions of others Sing a new song, let everyone know. Oh, and love shone down Over the hills and over the valleys Oh, and love shone down Over the world.

Well did I dream, or was I really on that hillside On that Christmas night so very long ago, When he was born, Jesus our saviour? Sing a new song, let everyone know. Oh, and love shone down Over the hills and over the valleys Oh, and love shone down Over the world.
