Turn YOUR Passion Into YOUR Profession The APA Franchise Program

Vision Vision 1 Million Members by 2020 Mission Mission To create VERY satisfied Members, Teams and Host Locations who recommend us to others. We Believe In We Believe In Earning and maintaining trust with our franchisees and members through honesty, integrity, respect and fairness. We ask that everyone in our system adhere to our common vision and goals and to strive for change that will help achieve our vision as individuals and as TeamAPA.

How the APA Began APA Background Franchising Company Centrally controlled nationwide amateur pool league League Operators operate the League League is implemented on local basis and sanctioned by the APA Founded in 1979 by professional pool players –Terry Bell & Larry Hubbart Became the American Poolplayers Association in 1981 Canadian Poolplayers Association (CPA) in Canada and the Japanese Poolplayers Association (JPA) in Japan APA has more than 250,000 members and boasts more members than all other national leagues combined League play is conducted weekly in both 8-Ball and 9-Ball formats

The APA has Three Functions 1.Membership Company - Over 250,000 members participating in League play throughout the United States, Canada, and Japan. 2.Tournament Production Company - National Singles Championship in Las Vegas in the Spring - National Team Championship in Las Vegas in the Summer - MiniMania Tournaments during National Championships - U.S. Amateur Championship in the Fall 3. Franchise Company

The Advantage of a Franchise Take the guesswork out of starting a business Benefit from an established method of conducting business Benefit from the reputation, trademarks and track record of success The strength and security of an established national network reduces the risk, and lets you make the most of a great opportunity Be in charge of running and operating in an exclusive, protected territory Receive support from our growing national network of more than 250 people

The Job of an APA League Operator Sales – As you are trying to “sell” the APA concept to all of the locations in your territory that have pool tables. The territories are defined by counties. You can have more than one county however they must be contiguous and have a total population of fewer than one million people. Data Entry –You must be comfortable and knowledgeable with using a computer. Customer Service –You are the contact for issues that arise during League night. You are responsible for the morale in your area.

How do I become an APA League Operator? Purchase a New Territory Purchase an Existing Territory or Partial Territory

Existing Areas for Sale Erie County, NY (Buffalo) Essex County, NJ Muskegon County, MI Tulsa County, OK (Tulsa) Fayette County, KY (Lexington) Garfield, Kingfisher, and Logan Counties in OK

Fees An existing territory (purchase of entire area from an LO) - $750 in transfer fees paid to the APA and pay the amount agreed upon with the selling League Operator. A portion of an existing area - $2,000 fee to be paid to the APA for software fees and pay the amount agreed upon with the selling League Operator. A brand new territory - $5,000 base franchise fee and a population fee of $100 for every 20,000 people in the territory. For example an area of 200,000 people would have a franchise fee of $6,000 in addition to the base fee.

The Application Process Steps in the application process:  Submit Confidential Franchise Application  Conversations with the Franchise Development Manager  Phone Interview and Discovery Day  Training Seminar From the time you submit your application until you’re officially in business can take as little as a month or longer.

Submit Confidential Franchise Application Once the Confidential Franchise Application is returned, the APA orders credit and criminal background checks. After the results come back a phone call is made and a Franchise Offering Circular is ed for you to review.

Conversations with the Franchise Development Manager You will be contacted by the APA Franchise Development Manager to discuss the “specifics” of the business. You will be required to take a WINDOWS skill test to see how comfortable you are with computers. You will take a Predictive Index survey. You will contact five current League Operators and talk with them about the business. You will submit a summary of the conversations to us and we intern the League Operators you spoke with to get their thoughts on the conversation.

Phone Interview and Discovery Day A phone interview will be scheduled with The APA President, the APA Director of Learning and Performance, and the APA Franchise Development Manager. After a positive phone interview a Discovery Day will be scheduled. You will attend “Discovery Day" at our St. Louis headquarters and will learn more about the American Poolplayers Association’s franchise opportunity.

Training Seminar Training is a 5-day course – Monday through Friday designed to teach you the APA system. You will be educated on rules, policies, and procedures.
