Where were the Great Plains? Plains Native Americans lived on the Great Plains of central North America from north of what is today the Canadian border to present-day southern Texas.
Shelter The Indians of the northern Great Plains lived in earth lodges. Each round earth lodge was home to several families.
Shelter About twice a year the villages emptied as the men, women and children took part in a great buffalo hunt. During their hunts they built shelters that were easy to move called Teepees.
