How Can PTNow Help You When There Is No Clinical Summary? Searching for Your Answers David Scalzitti, PT, PhD, MS 1

Ms. T 70-year-old woman with diabetes, diabetic neuropathy, hypertension, and degenerative joint disease of the knee referred for knee pain and concerns about falling

Ms. T 70 years old and has diabetes, diabetic neuropathy, hypertension, and degenerative joint disease of the knee. Referred to a physical therapist for her knee pain, also expresses concern about falling. The therapist administers the AGS Falls Screen:AGS Falls Screen –She has had 2 falls within the past 12 months, but no acute injury. –She has difficulty rising from a chair for the TUG, she is slow on turning, and she has a 3-meter TUG time of 15 seconds, which indicates a higher risk of falls. Her goals for physical therapy are to reduce knee pain and improve her ability to walk. The therapist determines that she is appropriate for a comprehensive fall risk evaluation.
