Be Part of the Solution, Not the Pollution G ive our planet a future O ur litter our responsibility G et biking or car sharing R ecycle and reuse E nsure switches are off E ncourage our community to take part N ever waste water ECO CODE

To Gain Green Flag Status we need to demonstrate: We hold regular Eco Committee Meetings with formal agendas The Eco Committee are made up of elected members The members are identifiable to whole school We involve teachers and non teachers We report back to whole school about our work We review eight key topics (litter, waste, water, school grounds, energy, transport, health, global citizenship) and produce action plans We carry out environmental reviews to inform our action plans We involve the wider community

How can I help? Review our new Litter and Waste Policy Issue litter points to those found littering or part of a group with litter on the floor Issue Eco points to those using litter bins or to those who pick litter off the floor Monitor your recycle bin and make sure form Eco Reps take recycling on the specified days. Tuesdays or Thursdays week 2. Sign up to do a form litter pick (if you do not have a form leave your bin out on Thursday week 2 and I will send Eco members to pick it up)

Save Energy and Water Make sure lights are switched off Turn off computers and projectors when not in use Keep classroom doors closed to conserve heat and shut blinds at night

Reduce Paper use Your department could switch to recycled paper Always photocopy on both sides when you can? Your department could buy exercise books made from recycled paper for next year You could use your own recycled paper to make notes for messages / memos Reduce the amount of worksheets and encourage pupils to write more into their books Use the ing system for messages Elect to view your form house / behaviour points on SIMS

Keep informed We have an eco section on the VLE - please look at the action plans and records of meetings Act on s sent or messages given Together we can use Eco Schools as a tool to increase belonging and pride in our students. Together we can reduce the amount we spend on energy and resources Be part of the Solution
