4 Drill Press Safety Notes Margin of safety for your fingers: –Keep your fingers at least 2 ” inches away from the drill bit or chuck.

5 Drill Press Safety Notes The Safety Zone for the operator: –Is an arm ’ s reach away from the person using the machine.

6 Drill Press Safety Notes Always wear safety glasses when using the drill press. –Safety glasses are in the tool cabinet.

7 Drill Press Safety Notes Only the operator turns the machine on and off. Turn off the drill press when you are done.

8 Drill Press Safety Notes Do not distract or talk to the person operating the drill press.

9 Drill Press Safety Notes Remove all loose jewelry. Roll-up loose sleeves to the elbow. Put long hair in a band or hair clip.

10 Drill Press Safety Notes If your project spins with the drill bit, turn off the power and wait for it to stop. –Do not try to stop it with your hands.

11 Drill Press Safety Notes Move the feed lever slowly and gently when drilling material.

12 Drill Press Safety Notes………. In thicker material, move the feed lever up and down a few times to clear the shavings.
