With a new face for 2015, the Chrysler 200 reaches its 2nd generation. The Mazda 6 received its makeover in 2012 and became the third generation. Power The 2015 Chrysler 200 offers two different power plants and all four trim levels can be powered by a 2.4-liter, 184 horsepower four cylinder driving the front wheels through a silky smooth nine-speed shiftable automatic transmission. The S and C models can be powered with the PentaStar 3.6-liter, 295 horsepower V6 that develops 262 ft. lbs. of torque and uses the same gearbox to power its all-wheel drive system. The four cylinder returns an estimated 23 miles per gallon in the city, and 36 miles per gallon on the highway; and when equipped with the V6 and all-wheel drive, the 200 returns an estimated 18 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway.

Powering the 2015 Mazda 6 is a 2.5-liter four cylinder making an identical 184 horsepower with 185 ft. lbs. of torque driving the front wheels. A six-speed manual is available on the i Sport and i Touring or it can be equipped with a shiftable six speed. The i Grand Touring is only available with the automatic. No other engine is offered for the Mazda 6 but it returns an estimated 25 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highway.

Features With higher quality interior materials for the model year, and a new touchscreen infotainment interface, the Chrysler 200 is well equipped. When configured in LX badging, the base model is equipped with cloth bucket seats that are height adjustable and upholstered in premium cloth. Other standard features include remote keyless power door locks, power mirrors; split-folding back rears seats, cruise control and audio on the tilt/telescope steering wheel, and room for five. This is on the base model and is not an extensive list, just a sampling of the standard features on the 2015 Chrysler 200. Navigation is available as an option and is a slick unit that provides an excellent interface.

The topline Chrysler 200 C adds heated, 8-way power buckets and swaths the inside of with leather and rear vents for the comfort of your passengers and rearview camera. The S and C models can be equipped with either the 2.5-liter four or the 3.6- liter V6 with all-wheel drive. The Mazda6 caught the eye when it first hit the market several years back. In its current rendition, it doesn’t have the edginess of the Chrysler 200. Offered in three trim levels, what it does have is excellent gas mileage, and the option of a six-speed manual, which helps it achieve the mileage advantage over the Chrysler 200 LX.

In its base form, the i Sport features standard front buckets wrapped in cloth upholstery, with a height adjustable driver’s seat, rear vents for your passengers, and four one-touch power windows, which is a nice feature for a base model car. Standard cruise and audio are mounted to the tilt/telescoping steering wheel.

The top of the line, i-Grand Touring wraps the interior in leather, and adds heated, eight- way power seats, as well rearview camera on i-Touring and i-Grand Touring; also a Bose stereo system driving eleven speakers and a subwoofer. What it lacks is the availability of a V6 and the six-speed automatic is not as smooth as Chryslers 9-speed. Take them both for a test drive and you decide.
