4 The strengthening of the compliance of IPA countries’ legislation with the EU acquis in the field of maritime safety, security and pollution prevention is the first and main objective of this project. General aim of the project
5 - Organising explanatory meetings to update local authorities on the application and the evolution of EU maritime legislation (ideally one per year in each IPA country with a coastline). Including an info day open to shipowners, agents, navy, etc… Specific actions - Organising training activities to be delivered by a reputable training institute contracted following a tender procedure;
6 - Inviting national experts from IPA countries to participate in specific meetings, conferences, working groups, etc, organised by EMSA in Lisbon and which are normally attended only by E.U. Member States; Specific actions - Organising technical meetings in EMSA on specific subjects identified in coordination with the beneficiary countries;
7 Lesson learnt Peculiarity of transport modes: -Ministry of transport or/and infrastructure -Maritime administration -Ministry of environment It has an impact on the project’s development as it saves a lot of money!
8 Lesson learnt Contacts/flow of information: -Focal points in the administrations -Quarterly newsletter -Try to cover the various sectors of the administration Quick and reliable information – names of participants - reimbursement procedures!
9 Lesson learnt Where events should be organised: -Lisbon -In the country (growing number) Events in the country allows to meet the civil society!
10 Lesson learnt Language: -English is the maritime language -No need to translate any document or brochure -Need of suitable candidates for trainings It has an impact on the project’s development!
