Education Graduate Research Scholars Ed-GRS

Ed-GRS Established in 2008 Faculty director: Adam Gamoran cohort: 42  First year students: 24  Second year students: 18 Budget: $873,914 Stipend rate: $14,892 Recruitment fund from the Grad School: $18,000

Requirements Enroll as full-time graduate students (first year) or dissertator (second year) while receiving the fellowship. Make satisfactory academic progress. Meet with an Ed-GRS coordinator at least twice a semester. Attend at least two Ed-GRS professional development workshops per semester. Attend at least one social event per semester. These events are designed to promote professional skills and community building among Ed-GRS fellows. Serve as a mentor for SOE incoming freshmen of color.

Recent workshops & activities Fall and spring welcome gatherings, corn maze visit, and bowling Workshops: Finding external funding, getting your paper published (MERIT) and writing CV & academic job search (EPCS) Assisting with undergraduate recruitment efforts such as tour of the Art Loft and meeting with prospective student groups. Mentoring undergraduate students

Focuses of : Support departments with recruitment efforts. Take advantage of events put forth by departments and the Grad School. Increase individual contacts and follow up with fellows. Working on a proposal to secure recruitment fund from the Graduate School. Collecting data on funding outside Ed-GRS. Continue building relationship with our pipeline programs such as Institute for Recruitment of Teachers (IRT) and McNair programs.
