GCSE Reform for Examinations in 2017 and Beyond

GCSE Reform Reformed GCSEs will be introduced gradually over the next three years. more demanding controlled assessment (coursework) will be removed or reduced in the majority of GCSEs will have a new grading scale from 9 to 1

A new grade 1 will be at the same standard as an old grade G A new grade 4 will be at the same standard as an old grade C but a good pass at an old grade C will be increased to a new grade 5 A new grade 7 will be at the same standard as an old A The top 2 per cent of students will be awarded a new grade 9 (better than an A*).

English Language, English Literature and Mathematics GCSE Wave 1 – First Examined in 2017

This means our current Y10 will sit the new GCSEs in English language, literature and mathematics but sit the current (legacy) GCSE’s or equivalences in their other subjects
