Parts of a Chainsaw (Cont…) Spark Plug Terminal Twist Lock Chain Sprocket Cover

Basic Parts of the Chainsaw

Purpose of Chainsaw Parts Front Hand Guard - Protect hands from chips Muffler - Quiet engine noise Oil Filter - Filter oil Fuel Filler Cap - Keep fuel in gas chamber Throttle Trigger - Control power to chain Rear Hand Guard - helps protect against losing grip of saw Rear Handle - Hold saw

Purpose of Chainsaw Parts (cont..) Throttle Trigger Interlock - prevents the chain starting up inadvertently. Master Control Lever - provides convenient selection of choke, start, and stop functions. Start Grip - Start the chainsaw Front Handle – hold chainsaw with two hands Chain Brake – Reduce kickback Bumper Spike – (optional) may be used as a pivot when making a cut Guide Bar – Holds chain to make cuts

Purpose of Chainsaw Parts (cont..) Saw Chain – makes the cuts Chain Tensioner – controls how tight the chain is against the bar Chain Catcher - prevent a broken or derailed saw Chain Sprocket – drives the chain Spark Plug Terminal – holds the spark plug Twist Lock – holds air cleaner cover on Chain Sprocket Cover – protects the chain sprocket
