Educational Plan & Report

Sundre High School (SHS), which includes the Sundre Learning Centre (SLC) our outreach program, is a learning community that is home to 305 students in grades SHS offers students a variety of academic programs as well as many extracurricular opportunities. Students benefit from quality instruction and facilitation in core courses as well as in option courses in areas such as band, health studies, fitness, second languages, career and technology studies, film studies, and drama. SLC offers an outreach program to approximately 35 full time and blended students in grades The Learning Centre offers flexibility in program delivery. The school is nestled in the heart of Sundre, Alberta, a progressive town of 2200 with ties to industries such as forestry, agriculture, and oil & gas.

The Leadership Club has made a commitment to helping the Sundre community, some of the activities they have worked on are: Haunted House and Pie Throwing event, raising money for Canadian Cancer Society. Preparing used eye glasses for distribution in 3 rd world countries. Washing local R.C.M.P. vehicle with proceeds going to local charities.

The Student Union organizes: Monthly student events Dances May Queen fundraiser ($45,000) Scholarships

Showcases extracurricular student talents in the areas of: Music, Drama, Dance, Art, Baking, Cosmetology, Video Editing…

Martial Arts Students have the opportunity to obtain credits while taking evening Martial Arts classes in a local dojo. Band / Choir Students have the opportunity to participate in the concert band / choir, performing several times a year. Work Experience / R.A.P. Students can gain valuable work experience and get credits at the same time. Over 65 students in the Work Experience Program. 16 students are taking part in the Registered Apprenticeship Program

Bio 30 Participation trend is steadily increasing. The number of students in Bio 30 and Chem 30 that achieved the acceptable standard last year was very high.

Back to Results Back to Results Parent data continues to show that students find Sundre High School and Sundre Learning Centre a safe and caring place to be where students have positive relationships with adults in the building.

Graduation Rate Continue to strive for a 90%+ high school completion rate. Identify "at risk" students in grades 9, and 10, and develop a plan for that connects an academic, work experience, or RAP to relevancy in their lives. Diploma / PAT Standard of Excellence Improvement Through the support of Instructional Leadership, Engagement Project, High School Redesign and our Collaborative Time Project, teachers are getting support in order to maintain and improve our results.
