Crisis Management Plan Miami International Airport (MIA)

About MIA Founded in 1928 in Miami, Florida. Operated by the Miami-Dade Aviation Department and owned by the Miami-Dade County government. Largest U.S. airport for Latin America and the Caribbean. One of the busiest international passenger and freight airports in the world.

Crisis Team Contact Sheet Head Executives and Communications Emilio T. Gonzalez, Ph.D: Director of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department. Ken Pyatt: Aviation Department’s Deputy Director. Anne Syrcle Lee: Chief Financial Officer. Lauren Stover: Assistant Aviation Director for Public Safety, Security and Communications Emilio Gonzalez

Crisis Risk Assessment Most likely crises: People are ill or wounded (pregnant woman, people getting ill on airplanes). Tower communication failure Most impactful crises: Terrorism Plane hijacking (9/11) Plane crashes with casualties

Incident Report Reporting every detail of the crisis and what should be done. Personnel should be keeping consistent communication during the crisis and get as many people to safety as possible. Employees need to identify the crisis, communicate with higher personnel so every employee and customer gets out of the danger if there is any danger. If danger is present then the media needs to be contacted to inform the public. Airports can prevent almost all their crises with effective security, top level technology, effective communication, and quality personnel including qualified pilots.

Crisis Control Center Depending on where the crisis occurs will determine where the team will assemble. If the crisis occurs on an airplane in the air the team will assemble in the communications tower. If the crisis occurs in the airport the team will assemble in the head offices if the crisis is not dangerous for everyone.
