DIDACTIC UNIT ``Our senses’’ Jéssica García Zorita DESIGNING AND DELIVERING EFFECTIVE CLIL LESSONS FOR THE PRIMARY CLASSROOM. Matthew Johnson. 13/05/2014.

1- TITLE. The title: ‘’Our senses’’ 1- TITLE. The title: ‘’Our senses’’. This unit is about the different senses that the human being have and the use that we do of them. Level: third level of Primary Education.

CLIL PRINCIPLES To get the student’s motivation through the active participation and the use of real materials to manipulate with their own hands using the different senses. 4C’S: Cognition Communication Culture Content Metacognition: Output. Contextualisation. Multiple intelligences: Interpersonal. Intrapersonal. Linguistic. Body kinesthetic

2. DESCRIPTION OF THE GROUP. The rural school is called Pimafad. The classrooms are composed by a small number of children. The majority of the students have a medium socio-cultural level according with the place where they live, Almoguera. The duration of the didactic unit will be of two weeks.

3. COMPETENCES. 1. Linguistic communication competence. 2. Knowledge and interaction with the physical environment competence.

4- AIMS. General aims Specific aims - To improve the communication -To identify the vocabulary of the senses -To have a positive attitude to learn English. -To be able to establish the communication with other children in different ways (body language, oral communication, writing and so on.) -To comprehend and understand the English vocabulary. -To develop the students’ motivation. -To improve the reading and writing. To know and understand the uses of the different senses. -To are able to put into practice the activities through the theoretical knowledge -To are able to work of a cooperative way. -To have respect with other children.

5-CONTENTS. Language contents Science contents. - Listening and understanding the oral messages with progressive difficulties like instructions or explications and oral interactions to support and extract some global and specific information. -The senses, description of the importance that they have in their diary care. -Valuation of the foreign language like a communicative instrument. -The relationship between other human being and the world -Recognition and use of the vocabulary and the basic structures of the foreign language. - The home's rules and their performance. Appraisal of the cooperation and dialogue like a way of avoiding and resolving conflicts. - Confidence in the capacity of learning a foreign language and valuation of the cooperative works.

6. TIMING AND MATERIALS. Duration: Two weeks. Days: Mondays, wednesdays, thursdays and fridays. Materials: - Food. - Projector. - Computer. -Clothes. -Cards of different colors. -Papers.
