Presentation transcript:

The lab From your lab report, what is the purpose of the lab? Share your ideas To analyze the interactions between Barn Owls and their prey. The lab will examine the predator / prey relationship.

Hypothesis The lab will examine the predator / prey relationship. What do expect to find? What is your hypothesis? Hypothesis: If an owl pellet is owl regurgitation (pellet) then it will contain pieces of its diet and I can determine prey found in the area as well as preference for certain type(s) of prey.

New material Food chains – series of steps where organisms transfer energy by eating and being eaten. In water it can start with algae or bacteria all the way to the largest fish.

Food web – network of complex interactions formed by the feeding relationships among various organisms in an ecosystem. For example: In the Serengeti, lions, hyenas and leopards feed on the same primary producers (buffalo, gazelle,…) thus they are connected.
