Welcome to Science Olympiad First Organizational Meeting Florida Nationals Video

What is Science Olympiad? Life Science Events Anatomy (Skeletal, Muscular, & integumentary): covers the structure, function, and diseases of each system Disease Detectives : study disease, injury, and health in populations of people Green Generation: Green Generation: answer questions involving the human impacts on our environment and solutions to reversing the trends.

More Life Science Events Bio-Process lab : lab-oriented event involving the fundamental science process of a life science/biology lab. Invasive Species Invasive Species: identify invasive species by order and family, answer questions about the causes and prevention of invasive species.

Earth and Space Science Events Dynamic Planet (Oceans): process skills to complete tasks related to physical and geological oceanography. Fossils: identification and answer questions about classification, habitat, ecology relationships, habitat, ecology relationships, behaviors etc. Meteorology (everyday weather): emphasizes weather principles with a basic weather.

Earth and Space Science Events MORE… Reach for the Stars: Focus on properties and evolution of stars and their observation with the EM spectrum.. Technology & Engineering Events Bridge Building: design and build the most efficient bridge meeting the specified requirements Elastic Launched Glider: construct and test a glider to achieve max and test a glider to achieve max flight time Mission Possible : Mission Possible : design, build, and test a Rube Goldberg-like device that completes tasks through a series of simple machine

More Technology & Engineering Events Scrambler: Scrambler: build a device to transport an egg along a track as quickly as possible and stop as close to a wall without breaking the egg. Air Trajectory Air Trajectory: Build a device to launch projectiles into a target. Bottle Rockets Bottle Rockets: construct a rocket that will stay aloft for the greatest amount of time.

Science Bowl New this year for both Preston and Colorado! New this year for both Preston and Colorado! The National Science Bowl® for Middle School Students includes two types of competitions — an academic math and science competition. Because it is very similar to Science Olympiad, we will be studying together. Regionals: Saturday, Early February, 2016 Nationals: April 28– May 2, 2016 More information to come…

Parent Volunteers- We need your help Event Coaches: Ms. Burke and Mrs. Loyd can not cover all 23 events involved. It is not time consuming (about 30 minutes a week). We can help with support materials and ideas. You do not have to be an expert! Tuesday/Thursday Night Supervisors with Building Events Fundraiser Coordinator(s) Handy-person(s) to assist with our building events and maintaining our tools. Celebrations Coordinator(s) to help plan both a regional and state party to celebrate our success. competitions. Snacks Coordinator for all four competitions.
