How to Write Aspirations Poems

Write About Something you Want to Accomplish Some people find their inspiration from looking to the future. Poetry can be a way to begin focusing on your goals and making them a reality. For some, the creation of poetry itself can be the goal.

Write about something you have always wanted to do We all have dreams, it’s a good idea to write about something you really want, especially because when you succeed in achieving your goal, your poetry will be a reflection of the journey you took to get there. Step 1: Brainstorm a list of 5-10 things you have always wanted to do

What made you want to do this? Write about what got you started in wanting to accomplish this goal. Who or what was your inspiration to achieve this goal or do this? Example: People in our lives – friends, parents, relatives, teachers, coaches have an impact on us and our decisions. Sometimes you would like to do something because no one else you know has done it. Step 2: Write about the people who inspire you. What is it that inspires you? You can include as many people as you like. The more ideas, the easier to create poem. (If no one in particular inspired you to achieve your goal, explain why you want to achieve your goal)

What is Preventing you from doing what you want to do? Things that can impede on our goals: lack of support from others to help achieve goal or what you want to do. Lack of certain physical attributes. Maybe financial restraints. Doubts or fears of success. Unsure how to start or what steps we need to take to do what we want. Step 3: List challenges or things that are preventing you from doing what you want. Describe how this makes you feel.

Overcoming Obstacles Often it can help to envision a plan to overcome obstacles to achieving your goals. Step 4: List plan A, B and maybe C to overcome obstacles that stand in the way of achieving your goals or doing what you really want to do.

Goal Achieved! Think about what it will be like to achieve a goal or get what you really want. Step 5: Describe What emotions will you feel once you have achieved your goal? What in your life will change?

Write your Poem Use the notes you generated to write a poem about your goals for the close or distant future and how you will accomplish them. The Man Who Thinks He Can If you think you are beaten, you are. If you think you dare not, you don't. If you'd like to win but think you can't, It's almost certain you won't. Life's battles don't always go To the stronger or faster man, But sooner or later, the man who wins Is the man who thinks he can. Walter D. Wintle

If by Rudyard Kipling If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and- toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings, And never breathe a word about your loss: If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!" If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much: If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
