Figure 3.24 Spinal Column, Ventral View

Vertebra of Spinal column Here is where spinal cord lives. Nerves leave spinal cord from between vertebrae (thus if discus moves, or pinch) there is pain (similar to facia paralysis following inflamation of facial nerve, or oppression of optic nerve by pituitary tumor).

Sensory neuron Group activity Interneuron motor neuron Ouch! That hurts, dude! Group activity Spinal cord lesion Sensory neuron Interneuron Cells of the Nervous System. There are three general types of neurons: Sensory neuron: A neuron that detects changes in the external or internal environment and sends information about these changes to the central nervous system. Motor neuron: A neuron located within the central nervous system that controls the contraction of a muscle or the secretion of a gland. Interneuron: A neuron located entirely within the central nervous system. polio motor neuron Would sensation be abolished by: a spinal cord lesion? polio? Would the reflex be abolished by: a spinal cord lesion? polio?
