I and the Village

Marc Chagall was one of the most important artists of the 20th century. He inspired many other artists, not only painters but also writers, poets etc. There is even a song called Painting by Chagall. Task 4: Read the lyrics of the song and find the parts that refer to Chagall and his paintings.

The Weepies: Painting By Chagall Thunder rumbles in the distance, a quiet intensity I am willful, your insistence is tugging at the best of me You’re the moon, I’m the water You’re Mars, calling up Neptune’s daughter Sometimes rain that’s needed falls We float like two lovers in a painting by Chagall All around is sky and blue town Holding these flowers for a wedding gown We live so high above the ground, satellites surround us. (Expected answers: the moon, the water, we float like two lovers, flowers for a wedding gown, wakeful dreamers...) Evaluation -How did you like this lesson? -Which activity did you like most? -Would you like to learn about other artists in this way?

Reward for hard work Now we can all relax and enjoy Chagall’s paintings accompanied by the music of The Weepies. (Instructions for the teacher: To watch the film go to
