The Life Cycle of a Butterfly Estella Raya 2 nd Grade

Butterflies are beautiful insects and are rare. Each butterfly is different; butterflies differ in color and size. Like any other living thing, a butterfly has a life cycle. Let’s learn about the Life Cycle of a Butterfly!!

The first stage is the EGG STAGE. During this stage the female butterfly lays an egg on a plant.

The 2 nd stage of the life cycle is called that LARVA STAGE. During this stage the egg hatches and the larva (caterpillar) comes out.

The 3 rd stage is called the PUPA STAGE. During this stage the caterpillar feeds on the plant and grows. When its skin becomes too small, the old skin splits open and the caterpillar pops out with a new skin on. The caterpillar's skin splits for the last time.

The last stage is the adult stage when the chrysalis splits and the butterfly comes out.

You have now learned about the Life Cycle of a Butterfly!
