Background: Emergency Response Planning at Virginia Tech Lessons learned Moving forward Campus infrastructure

IT and Law Enforcement Historically and nationally, IT units and law enforcement/ first responders do not typically interact except on an as-needed basis We’ve created a means of having ongoing dialog to plan and develop pro-active measures IT now works with law enforcement to develop new tools for crisis prevention, detection and management while emphasizing that the tools must adapt to the culture, not vice versa
