Mini-CST Quiz #2 this next Thursday/Friday Vocab Quiz #7 this next Thursday/Friday

Objectives: What you will be able to do after today’s lesson… To diagram root words and expand your vocabulary. To read and comprehend the plot, characterization, and themes within our class novel, The Giver.

But WHY???? We’re getting ready for the war (CST). Remember, you may have lost some of the battles (benchmarks), but you will win the war (CST)!!!! Learning root words can help you expand your vocabulary without really having to learn 100’s of words. You can break down the roots within a word and make an educated guess on its meaning. Breaking down the plot, characterization, and themes within a story will help you understand and comprehend what you are reading while also making you a better reader.

Do Now (page 31L) Superlatives and Comparatives You need to create a comparative or superlative for the following adjectives based on our class novel, The Giver. You can compare people or things from the story. The first one is done for you below… 1.Jonas is the most honest person in Sameness. or 1.Jonas is more honest than his father. 1.Honest 2.Curious 3.Quiet 4.Pretty 5.Happy 6.Hard 7.Confusing 8.Comfortable 9.Beautiful 10.Serious

Mini-CST Quiz #1 (Weeks 1 and 2) -Mark wrong answers incorrect, and leave correct answers alone. Use your best judgment on each of the questions, and if you cannot read it, mark it wrong. After we go over each section, you need to put the number they got correct for that particular section. If they do not have the all parts of the question correct, then it is wrong.

In-text citations go at the end of paragraphs within the actual essay that you are writing.
