Pearson Forward Day 1 Role of the Field Specialist Program Overview Integrated Curriculum, Assessment and PD

Goals/Level-Setting Compare and contrast the role of the Field Specialist as it pertains to Forward. Understand what the work will look like, with regard to: Integrated Curriculum Performance-based Assessments Professional Development Thinking and Academic Success Skills Instructional Planning Supporting Leadership

Role of the Field Specialist Provide technical support in an ongoing and collaborative basis to help get implementation practices underway and provide feedback on progress Nurture the development of cohesiveness among all schools implementing Forward During the course of a day, the Field Specialist will work with school leaders, teachers, and coaches. Every time a Field Specialist visits a school they can do the following; With Teachers; Co-plan- lessons, individually or in a group Model- Lessons or expectations of how to facilitate Observe- teachers Co-facilitate- teacher meetings and PD With Leaders; Strategize (problem solve implementation issues) Co-plan- meetings to be facilitated to staff or events to support implementation (eg- classroom observations) Co-facilitate- meetings to be facilitated to staff Model- leadership team meetings

Forward Instructional System Supp ort

Goal: To target and qualify customers who would be the most successful with Forward. To generate excitement by showing a customer how Forward aligns to their school’s mission and vision. Customer takes web-based vision self-assessment to determine how Forward aligns to school or district’s vision for student success in the 21 st century Sales meets with customer to educate them about Forward and discuss contract expectations Outcome: Customer moves to the Planning Phase Client Engagement

Vision Assessment Customer takes web-based vision self-assessment to determine how Forward aligns to a school or district’s vision for student success in the 21 st century. A score of 20+ points indicates a warm lead.

Goals: To assess the scope of work needed during implementation in order to determine the appropriate implementation plan for Year 1. Data on school practices, processes, and systems will be collected through: implementation planning assessment classroom observations and interviews conducted by Field Specialists Sales and SAS General Managers will meet with the customer to: review the data and determine the level of support needed in Year 1 sign the contract Outcome: Level of support determined and contract signed. Study Requirements Students will be administered the Stanford Achievement Test Series (SAT10) and an academic attitude survey at the beginning and end of the and school years Participating teachers will be required to complete weekly online logs, and three short surveys throughout the SY All implementing classrooms will be observed at least twice during the SY Incentives 3 year license to participating schools $300 stipend to participating teachers and site coordinator - Additional $150 stipend to lead teacher Research Study
