Progress report of the tilt monitor Daisuke OKAMOTO Tohoku University

Topics Abstract principle performance Prototype design Engineering drawings Frequency tuner Time schedule PLAN Please remember

Abstract--principle Measure the beam orbit tilt angle in a single cavity weak strong excited no excited Nominal beam Tilt beam Tilt monitor is a another type of the cavity beam monitor Monopole mode is extracted through slit V ∝ θ U ∝ θ 2 (orbit tilt)

Abstract--expected performance Orbit angle[urad] Output power[W] ∝ θ 2 Thermal noise Room temperature 300[K] Bandwidth ~ 3MHz Design RF parameters Expected sensitivity: 35 nrad frequency 2.856GHz Loaded Q 2700 Q_extracted 3500

Design change Change to frequency tuner Two port extraction > one port extraction One port extraction needs large coupling(sensor cavity and waveguide), but another mode is enough suppressed by slit and waveguide. Previous(shown by TB meeting)

Prototype design Frequency tuner Flange Feed through Body-copper Sensor cavity waveguide

Engineering drawings Almost final draft. We will order soon

Frequency tuner and machining error There are machining errors < 0.01 mm(per a face) Δω ±0.002GHz ---- probably almost can be ignored Tuner insertion length[mm] Frequency[GHz] 20mm variable a part of wall is variable Fine tuning of the frequency

Time schedule Machine work brazing Cold test calibration ~ measure signals versus beam jitter, using BPMs data versus mechanical tilt by piezo device or Calibration one port RF measurement Measure mode frequency, Q-values and so on Cold test Prototype will be completed in October month

I think about learning of the flight simulator, due to effective usage and place of tilt monitor I have not started the study yet. Only preparing the flight simulator environment Status I would like to study the beam stabilization for monitor measurement Orbit tilt at a single point Considering the combination of the BPMs Flight simulator flight simulator

summery The engineering drawing was completed, and will order soon. Now, We are arranging the detailed schedule of making (filling the my design requirement) I will stay KEK October ~ December. Preparing the test of tilt monitor Experience and learn the beam shifts September is a little busy ・・ the combination of BPM and tilt monitor the effective place and so on study the beam stabilization, using flight simulator
