Teaching Kids to Look

Design thinking is a process, applicable to all walks of life, of creating new and innovative ideas and solving problems.

Empathy Looking around and identifying problems that exist Poor Kayla! She cannot participate for a while. She has an ice pack that may drip on the books that are on her work surface! She’s missing valuable time in class.

Define Craft your question that will address the problem identified. Collaboration is key! Can we invent a container to hold ice for bo0-boos that will not leak or sweat?

Ideate Come up with ideas that could answer or address your problem/question Brainstorming calls for creatively addressing the situation. The more ideas you have, the better!

Prototype Create a model based on your design.

Test Return to your original group for time to put your prototype into action. Collect data to fine tune your plan.
