AIM: What is a PERMS Chart Do now : What were the achievements of ancient Sumer? Why were they considered “achievements”?

PERMS Stands for Political Economic Religious Military Social

Create a PERMS chart Political Economic Religious Military Social Image ____ Why is this image a political example? Explain. Why is this image an economic example? Make observations and explain. Why is this image a religious example? Classify and explain. Why is this image a military example? Explain. Prove why this is this image of “society”? Explain.

Answers Political Economic Religious Military Social Image 1 Image one is an example of “political” because it shows a king. Kings were often the rulers of Sumerian government. Image 5 Image five is an example of an “economy.” The coins represent a system of buying and trading. Image 2 Image two is an example of Sumerian “religion” because ziggurats were Sumerian temples of worship. Image 4 Image four is an example of Sumerian “military.” Sumerians invented the wheel and used it to construct chariots. Image 3 Image four is an image of “society” because it depicts the levels of Sumerian society. It shows slaves at the bottom, farmers and artisans in the middle, and the king at the top.

What’s the point? PERMS charts help us organize a civilization into an easier way of understanding it. PERMS charts can be used for any civilization. PERMS charts can be a helpful way to organize an essay.
