John Hancock’s Non-Profit Marathon program donates marathon numbers to select non profits throughout Boston. This year, thanks to John Hancock and the BAA, BMC was lucky enough to receive 75 bibs! We are glad you have all joined us for this inspirational and record breaking journey. Together it is our hope to raise $750,000 dollars for our Emergency Department
History of Team BMC Thanks to John Hancock, this is our 12 th year of Team BMC running in the Boston Marathon In total, Team BMC has raised over $2.16 million through the Marathon program Last year, we raised a record breaking $1.1 Million with 107 runners; Average raised per bib was over $14,000. Way to go! Where does the money go? This year money raised will fund the expansion of our Emergency Department
BMC Emergency Department On Marathon Monday in 2013, Boston EMS brought the first wave of the most critically injured patients to BMC - 23 in total. The day after the Marathon, 4 gunshot victims were brought to BMC. This is a typical day in BMC’s Emergency Room. But, did you know that our ED is the largest and busiest provider of trauma and emergency services in New England?

Your Fundraising Pitch FACT: Letters and s are the most effective way to raise money. Start by creating a list of people who may want to support you. This can include places you do business, co-workers, family, friends, etc. You can even ask family and friends to help widen your network! Your personal letter/ should include: –Your personal goal. Aim high! –Why you are running? What is your personal connection? –Facts about BMC and our ED –Ask for a specific amount. The worst anyone can say is no –Say thank you! Whether someone says yes or no, acknowledge their generosity and support –Consider sending at least 2-3 s to your network as s can be easily missed or passed over
Matching Gifts- Double your donations! Find out if your employer or your donor’s employer has a matching gift program. Many do! It’s an easy way to double your fundraising. If your employer doesn’t have an official matching gifts program, think about another creative way to engage your company. For example, sponsor a “wear jeans to work day”
Make Your Fundraising Stand Out Host a night out! –Silent auction –Night at a local bar or restaurant –Ask a local organization to donate a percentage of sales for one night Sell Something! –Team T Shirts, Bracelets, Coffee Mugs, Candy Bars –Baked goods Donate an item for a company wide raffle. Concert tickets, vacation rentals, sporting games, and ipads tend to raise a lot of money! Is it your birthday? Ask for a donation in lieu of a birthday gift! Take advantage of current events. Raffle off Superbowl Squares and split proceeds.
Secure a Sponsor! Work for a large corporation or a small business? Ask them to sponsor Team BMC for the 2015 Boston Marathon! There are many benefits to sponsoring Team BMC. Any sponsor that an individual runner secures will receive these benefits. Sponsorship levels range from $5,000-$50,000 Special thanks to Santander Bank for being the largest supporter of Team BMC for the second year in a row!
