1. Identify MCJROTC rank structure. 2. Describe MCJROTC promotion policies. 3. Identify MCJROTC Awards. 4. Describe MCJROTC award policies.

CPS Key Word Questions (1-2)

 Promotion  Ribbons _________ - the act of furthering the growth or development of something _______ - awards provided to recognize superior performance by units or individual cadets

CPS Lesson Questions (1-2)

List 2-3 awards you have received. Why did you receive them? (Use CPS “Pick a Student” for this question.)

 The MCJROTC is a well-defined organizational structure that has systems to recognize and reward individuals and units for achievements.  These two systems are: Promotions Awards

 Every MCJORTC unit is organized as either a company or a battalion.  Within that company or battalion, there are many jobs and positions that have specific descriptions and requirements.

Insignia of Grade for Cadet Officers Cadet Second Class Cadet First Class Cadet Captain Cadet Major Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Cadet Colonel

Cadet Private First Class Cadet Lance Corporal Cadet CorporalCadet Sergeant Cadet Staff Sergeant Cadet Gunnery Sergeant Cadet First Sergeant Cadet Sergeant Major

 Rank is used within the MCJROTC to classify cadets.  Cadets are either classified as officers or enlisted, just like in the United States Marines.  The word cadet should precede the actual rank used.  Always address individuals by their ____ and never by their _____. rank grade

CPS Lesson Question (3-4)

 Cadets in the MCJROTC are promoted based on ability, skill, experience, and potential.  The Senior Marine Instructor will determine promotions and promotion policies.  Cadet promotions are normally limited during the first and second years.  Remember, it is up to you on how far you advance.

 Awards publicly recognize meritorious service and outstanding achievements.  Ribbons are awards provided to recognize superior performance by units or individual cadets.  Rewards vary for academic achievement, extracurricular activities, an event requiring special effort, or an achievement that exceeds expectations.

 SMIs may desire to institute local personal awards.  Before a cadet may wear any local ribbon or device on the MCJROTC uniform, the Commanding General, MCCDC must approve and authorize the award.  Marksmanship badges are also awarded annually following qualification firing.

CPS Lesson Question (5-7)

List the 2-3 awards you would like to work toward receiving. Why did you choose these awards? (Use CPS “Pick a Student” for this question.)
