Why What Who When How BOD Review

Tool Purpose / Value Story No national distribution of outreach events No method to measure outreach impact and member participation in engineering outreach No way to reward members who engage in outreach activities SWE lacks the ability to track outreach

SWEeter Futures idea came from Region B grassroots effort Kerrie Greenfielder invented the general concept using survey monkey and Excel for Region B Outreach spent FY11 researching different software platforms that could meet requirements AngelPoints software was selected as vendor Motorola grant covered the $20k cost to customize and implement in FY12

SWEeter Futures provides SWE members with extensive capabilities Publication of Events Events created by users and publicized in the community Metrics for Society Provides statistical data for SWE use Engagement of Users Users set up preferences for events they are interested in Event managers can use the system to look for qualified volunteers to fill openings Survey participants on event participation Recognition of Users Recognize work at both individual and section/region level

Work out the operational bugs Develop a standard SWE process Finalize general deployment process Region B Implementation starts with a pilot group

Full deployment is expected at WE12 SF Operational Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec WE12 – General Sessions Region B pilot Region E & Region H pilot General Deployment to Membership

Individual members should be rewarded for outreach activities Milestone rewards defined, no or nominal cost Electronic recognition Letters, badges, Agilent kits Rewards card / frequent flier concept Revise annual awards in FY13 for payout in FY14 (Celebrate SWE!) Outreach award aligned to hours/activities identified in the tool

Regions and sections should be rewarded too! avg total hrs/active member avg SWE member hrs/active member avg events/active member avg girl- hours/active member avg parent / educator-hours / active member Top Region$1,000 Top three Sections$500 $350 $150 Total awards $2,000 $10,000 Assumptions regarding awards: 1only hours volunteering for girls events count 2outreach planning and training count 3each daily occurrence of recurrent events counts as a single event 4girl-hours equals the number of girls participating times the number of hours for the event (ditto parent/educator-hours)
