A Rotaract club is a Rotary sponsored club for year-olds that fosters leadership and responsible citizenship, encourages high ethical standards in business, and promotes international peace and understanding. Rotaract Clubs can be community or university based.

How did Rotaract start? The first Rotaract club, the Rotaract club of the University of North Carolina, was founded on 13 March The club was sponsored by the Rotary club of North Charlotte, North Carolina. Today, there are more than 8,126 clubs in over 163 countries with 186,898 members worldwide. Rotaract clubs draw members from the community or are organized as an extracurricular activity for college students.

Community Service Projects Rotaract clubs participate in community service projects in an effort to improve the lives of the people around them. Often Rotaractors partner with other Rotaract clubs to participate in international service projects. Rotaractors not only have great ideas about how to help people in need, but together they have the power to make these ideas work!

Professional Development Rotaract clubs’ professional development activities expand the members’ understanding of the work environment and business opportunities within their community. Sponsoring Rotarians can enhance the activities by providing practical advice on entering the business world and overcoming business, vocational and professional challenges. Examples: Special professional forums business technology updates management and marketing seminars conferences on business and professional ethics

Leadership Development A club’s leadership development activities not only aim to make members more effective leaders in their personal lives, but also teach them how to develop and sustain strong clubs with relevant projects. Important Topics: Improving public speaking skills Techniques for marketing the Rotaract program to potential members. Building consensus among members Delegating project responsibilities and ensuring the necessary follow-up Identifying channels for project publicity and promotion Finding financial resources Accessing project success

Why join a Rotaract club? Today’s young people will become tomorrow’s parents, professionals, business leaders and community leaders. With the help of programs like Rotaract, they can gain the tools necessary to develop into responsible, productive members of society. “The real benefit for me is that maybe one day I will leave the world slightly better off than how I found it, whether it is because I have volunteered, raised funds or just improved my own knowledge by listening to a speaker and being inspired.” -Cindy LaGreca, Rotaract club of Chicago, IL, USA “The network of friendship, the fantastic possibilities to get involved with worldwide understanding, and the interesting and dedicated members I meet are the main reasons why I am a member of a Rotaract club.” -Oliver Lange, Rotaract club of Offenburg, Germany

How can we charter our club? Adopt the amendments and all the by-laws consistent with the Standard Rotaract Club Constitution. Fill out the Rotaract Club Organization List complete with all signatures. Send with US$50 to RI World Headquarters or your local RI International office for club certification.
