That’s more than 35 times Australia’s entire population!
Of this 774 million people, what percentage are women? a)Less than 30% b)50% c)More than 60% ANSWER: c) More than 60% 64 % or two-thirds of the world’s illiterate adults are female.
In East Timor, what percentage of adults are able to read or write? a)98% b)78% c)58% ANSWER: c) 58% More than a third of Timorese adults are illiterate. Only 53% of Timorese women are able to read and write compared to 63 % of men.
