HCO is a great organization to become familiar with if you’re interested in joining the health-related work force. Whether you would like to become a physician, nurse, pharmacist, or physical therapist, you will gain a great understanding of many different fields to choose from. Our board members are willing to answer any questions regarding their career path and how they are reassuring themselves of getting acceptance into their prospective schools. First and foremost, we are here to help! We will bring you speakers from different programs and schools. Make sure you have some questions planned for the speakers or even us board members.

We have been going to St. Francis Elementary School to teach the children fun and easy ways to learn about science. We’ve done plenty of experiments such as: Blowing up balloons with CO2 Building kaleidoscopes Making slime

Lorena Zendejas Steven Montenegro I have been a HCO member for 3 years which has allowed me to gain knowledge about the diversity of health field programs at medical schools and the tools to present myself as a well rounded individual. I have also been involved with various other organizations on campus which have permitted me to participate in health care abroad. I have traveled to Mexico to provide free medical care and had a awesome opportunity to travel to Honduras during the summer for a medical mission trip. Off campus I have volunteered at hospitals like Kaiser and Loma Linda Medical center. After I graduate this year I plan to take a year off and prepare to apply to Physician Assistant medical programs. I obtained an Emergency Medical Technician license over the summer and plan to work as an EMT on my year off

Pamela Ng Rocio Iliana Currently a 3 rd year Biology major at UCR. Been part of HCO since freshman year and is now one of the Volunteer Coordinators. Been interested in medicine since forever and plan on becoming a specialist one day, preferably a surgeon, but still open to a lot of options.

Jacquelyn Tran Christine Lam My name is Jacquelyn Tran (Health Career Organization's social coordinator) and I aspire to one day become a physician's assistant. I have been involved in the medical field for five years now, holding a job as a medical assistant as well as an internship with RCH and I am absolutely in love with all of it. Hi HCO, my name is Christine Lam and I am the current Treasurer of Health Careers Organization. I'm working hard to one day receive a Doctor of Physical Therapy so I can help my future patients the way my physical therapist helped me.

Ricky Espinoza Shalin Patel Hello! I’m Ricky and I am a UC Riverside graduate (B.S. Biology, ‘12). I am HCO’s Webmaster and Historian. I am interning at Riverside Community Hospital. I am currently applying to post-bacs and masters programs. My career goal is to become a D.O. I'm Shalin Patel and I'm a second year Bioengineering major. I joined HCO to learn about the opportunities that are out there in the health field. It has really taught me the importance of getting involved on campus, and as a result, I applied for an internship with HCO last year. Other than HCO, I am also a part of BMES and EWB. Off campus, I volunteer at the hospital. Eventually, I hope to apply to medical school an become a physician.
