How to make tag questions 1. Use auxiliary/helping verb to make the question. 24 helping verbs: To be: am, is, are, was, were To do: do, does, did To have: have, has, had Modal: can, could, may, might, will, would, shall, should, ought to, used to, need, dare, must If there is no helping verb, use ‘do/does’ in present tense and use ‘did’ in past tense.

Make a negative question if the statement is affirmative. a) He was reading a letter, wasn’t he? b)They have killed a tiger, haven’t they? c)We are playing ball, aren’t we ? a)She is not sleeping, is she? b)You are not sincere to your study, are you? c)I do not hate the poor, do I?
