Prehistoric Art 1.Prehistoric Art was a storytelling tool. 2.Prehistoric Art is found all around the world in caves. 3.Prehistoric Art has simplistic style. 4.Prehistoric artist found their materials in nature.

Egyptian Art 1.Pharaoh was the ruler and was believed to be the son of a god. 2.Important people were drawn in composite stance (taller, twisted into a uncomfortable position). 3.Unimportant people were drawn in naturalistic stance (smaller, normal position). 4.The Pharaoh was always depicted with a calm facial expression. 5.The Nile River ran through Egypt.

Greek Art 1.Greek artist were in pursuit of idealism and the perfect human form. 2.KRITIOS BOY was the first sculpture to be made in the Contraposta stance. 3.DORYPHORUS was a sculpture made by Polykleitos of the perfect human.

Byzantine Art 1.The first Emperor of the Byzantine empire was Justinian and his wife was Theodora. 2.Byzantine artists created: 1. mosaics - artwork made from small pieces of stone) 2.icons - pictures of holy people believed to be embodying the picture. 3.Byzantine Icons show us: 1.holy people - like the Virgin and Christ child 2.cross contour shading – shows every fold of the cloth 3.the rules for drawing people - large eyes and long noses 4.Halo – sign of religious significance or holiness

Romanesque Art 1.Triptych – an artwork composed of three parts or panels 2.Block Print – an image is carved into a block; the block is inked; the block is used as a stamp on a piece of paper; the resulting image is left in ink on the paper 3.Illuminated Manuscript – an artist decorates and the first letter of the text of a story and the area around the text of a story 4.Romanesque art took place in Europe.

Gothic Art 1.Rose Window is the shape of a circle. 2.Gothic art took place in Europe. 3.Stained glass windows became widely used during the Gothic period. 4.The Gothic period was during the Dark Ages.
