Why is CS Important? It’s a viable alternative to using print anthologies (esp. in classes that rely primarily on texts already in the public domain). It flips the classroom in face-to-face classrooms by making annotations visible and public, in advance of class discussion. It creates a textual community in online classes by disrupting and deepening traditional “discussion board post” genres (such as journals, blogs, and reading responses). It serves very well as a site for peer and instructor review of student writing; for that matter, it’s a great space to workshop any piece of writing in progress.
