2 Valencia Facts 815,440 population Valencia is the third largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. 2,000 years of history A Roman settlement, then a visigoth and moslem city until Cid Campeador conquered it and converted it into a Christian Kingdom. This can be seen in its architecture which refelcts every style from the Roman Period until the most Modern styles. Mild climate The city,which has been open to tourism for decades, is friendly and warm to visitors. Of course, this is partly due to the 3,000 hours, or 282 days of sunshine per year which Valencia enjoys. Diversity and contrasts Sea and Mountains Mar y Montaña ( Costa Blanca- Benidorm- Costa Azahar- Castellón) and towards the interior ( Rincón de Ademuz, Hoces del Cabriel, Chulilla, etc.) Economy In comparison with other large cities in Spain, the cost of living in Valencia proves to be economical for international students.
