22 Health & Safety Inoculations for Guam, Chuuk & Palau –Ensure you are up to date with the following inoculations: Tetanus, Hepatitis A (if travelling by airline from UK) Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Hepatitis A, Typhoid Fever (146 transit) –Read the Masta Health Briefs & Control Risks Report on the FAAM websiteFAAM website –Read the Recce Report (same page on FAAM website) –Carry your Medical Insurance Card / details Out and about –Drink plenty water and apply sunscreen regularly –Wear a hat –Keep valuables out of sight –Don’t go out alone –Ensure someone else knows where you are

23 Health & Safety If you become ill –Let someone know –Doctor available via Hotel –Hospital facilities available..... –However, any major illness on Chuuk & Palau requires medical evacuation to Guam Workload –Alternate science crew on flights to spread workload –If you feel overtired or not fit to fly, let someone know asap –We have sufficient contingency in crewing to cover illness Duty Hours –FAAM record duty hours – we can extend this to cover others as required
