CHILD SOLDIERS Denis Tryshak

Child Soldiers  The rise of child labor in the United States began in the late 1700s and early 1800s. When the Industrial Revolution started, many families had to find someone to work or they wouldn't survive.  Child labour refers to the employment of children in any work that deprives children of their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular school, and that is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and harmful.  Philippines, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Mexico and BRIC countries, i.e.,Brazil, Russia, India and China pose extreme child labour risks to supply chains of companies. As per Maplecroft, the risks that these economies pose to companies are distinct as they form critical links within the multinational supply chains.

WHY DOES CHILD LABOUR EXIST  WHY WAS CHILD LABOUR FOUNDED? To have more hands to work on machines  HOW DID CHILD LABOUR SPREAD? For many reasons such as war or mining because they didn’t have enough workers  WHAT COUNTRIES SUPPORT CHILD LABOUR? A new report by risk analysis firm Maplecroft, which ranks 197 countries, identifies Eritrea, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo,Myanmar, Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan,Zimbabwe and Yemen as the 10 places where child labor is most prevalent.

WHAT DO WE AS CANADIANS DO TO PREVENT CHILD LABOUR  It's been some time now since the factory collapse in Bangladesh, a devastating and needless tragedy for countless people. The only good thing to come of it is that more people around the world have started to realize the price of cheap goods. This disaster that killed more than 1,100 textile workers sparked heated debates about retail supply chains and ethical consumerism. No one wants to purchase something knowing that the making of that product has compromised someone else's well- being. It is horrible that any worker has to go to work in unsafe, dangerous conditions.the factory collapse in Bangladesh  The only thing worse, as far as I am concerned, is that many of these workers are children. According to stats from International Labour Organization, 115 million of the world's children are working in the worst forms of child labor this year. These children are doing jobs that are dangerous, dirty and degrading. Children around the world are being forced into sexual slavery, forced to beg on the streets, forced into dangerous jobs in mines, in agriculture or in sweat shops, forced into marriages and domestic services. Children who survive this fate often go on to have their own children and repeat the cycle, stripping them of all opportunity.According to stats from International Labour Organization

CATHOLIC CONNECTION  The church completly disaproves of child labour because the church always supports human rights. But in some countries the government silences the church of speaking anything against child labour.
