Presentation transcript:

March 2016

 Ofsted is the Office of Standards in Education  They regulate the quality in every educational provider in the country  They give an overall grade of Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement, Special Measures or Serious Weaknesses.  Currently there are more Good and Outstanding Primary schools than Secondary schools in the country and in Havering  Only half of the secondary schools in Havering are Good or Outstanding  An inspection lasts one or two days depending on your last Ofsted grade

 Two inspectors and one trainee inspector visited us  They told us the day before  They arrived about 8am and left about 6.30pm  They met with the headteacher; senior leaders; heads of Maths, English, Science, Art and Geography; governors and parents; newly qualified teachers; students; and someone from the local authority.  They received questionnaires from staff, students and parents.  They looked at student books and watched parts of some lessons  They read many of our documents including our evaluation and development plans for the school

 The academy continues to be good  We provide a good quality of education  We act with speed and clarity when we need to make improvements  Pupils are positive about the academy  Pupils are well behaved, polite and treat the environment with respect  Sixth form students feel welcome, make good progress and are very well supported  We have found out, “creative ways to reach out to all pupils”

 Teachers plan interesting and stimulating lessons and give clear guidance  Senior teachers and middle leaders work well together to make sure all students make good progress  All staff focus on making sure you make good progress  All students are safe  Our strategic planning is detailed

 Homework is set regularly and monitored closely  Training for staff is good and staff are positive about the school  We know what we need to improve and we are doing things about it  “The farm is an oasis of happiness, support and encouragement”  You take it very seriously that students need to feel listened to

 Make sure students feel listened to  Improve PSHCEE  Make sure your feedback from teachers is clear  Make sure all your teaching is good  Make sure every student does well regardless of their background  Think about the impact of all the things we are doing  Ask you good questions  Assess all your work well and quickly  Give you time to act on advice  Continue to support English

 Your behaviour was excellent  The assembly was great  The students who spoke to the inspectors were honest and fair  You all tried really hard to show how Good the school is  We are NOT perfect and never will be but we are GOOD and we will keep working together to get even better
