His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge Prince George Alexander Louis was named after his great- great-grandfather, King George VI (the Queen's father). George is also a tribute to Prince Charles, who has it as one of his middle names, along with Phillip and Arthur. It's possible that the name George honours Diana's side of the family too, as it's the name of one of William's cousins. The name George is from the Greek name Georgios, from georgos, meaning “farmer, earthworker” which is from ge, meaning “earth” and ergon, meaning “work”.
