Coordinator of the Masters in International Agribusiness Management Program (MIAM) Internal/External Job Opening Division: Education Direct Supervisor: Director of the Division of Education/Dean of the Graduate School Type of Position: National/International Professional Staff Location: CATIE Headquarters, Turrialba, Cartago, Costa Rica DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate all MIAM activities related to promotion, recruitment, and admission of students Coordinate all MIAM activities related to teaching and advising (this Master’s program is delivered in English) Provide financial management to the MIAM program Develop strong relationships with INCAE, agribusinesses, and other partners Representation on CATIE’s Academic Master’s Committee Lead the launching of a new joint master’s degree in Sustainable Rural Business Development (SRBD) with New Mexico State University (NMSU), also delivered in English Liaison with the academic coordinators of MIAM (serving on the Joint Master’s Committee at INCAE) and the SRBD Master´s at NMSU POSITION OBJECTIVE Manage and coordinate the Master’s in International Agribusiness Management program. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Play a lead role in teaching and advising related to MIAM and SRBD Carry out research and development activities related to the topics covered by MIAM and SRBD, in close collaboration with the Competitiveness and Value Chains program and other programs at CATIE Write grants to support research and development activities related to MIAM Write proposals for scholarship funding and MIAM program expansion and improvement Carry out other forms of fundraising to support the MIAM program Carry out training activities, consultancies, and backstopping activities related to the MIAM program.
TECHNICAL SKILLS: Ph.D. in Economics (including agricultural and forest economics) or related fields Graduate level interdisciplinary teaching and research experience Sound management, coordination, and communication experiences in graduate education programs Track record in fundraising for research, educational and development activities Strong record in realizing scientific and technical publications High proficiency in English and Spanish (both verbal and writing) Experience in integrating successfully into teams Willingness to travel inside and outside of Latin America PERSONAL SKILLS: Strong leadership skills Aptitude and positive attitude toward education and human capital formation Works well in teams and interdisciplinary groups Takes initiative and is creative and innovative Strong communication skills Strong planning and organizing skills Can work in a dynamic work environment Can articulate an integral and holistic vision for the Program MIAM Excellent interpersonal and multicultural relations Located in Costa Rica, CATIE combines science, higher education and technical cooperation.
