WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND EXERCISE?

LESS THAN HALF THE PEOPLE IN TEXAS GET MIN RECOMMENDED EXERCISE!!! WHY?? 20% Totally inactive Why so much more prevalent today

WHAT IS THE LEADING THREAT TO HEALTH? Tobacco Use 2 nd is physical inactivity Chronic disease- causes 60% of deaths worldwide Vocab term- hypokinetic= disease caused by lack of movement Leading Cause of deaths are lifestyle related- 84% of the deaths before age 65 are preventable US ranks 24 th in life expectancy

RECOMMENDED AMOUNTS OF EXERCISE Need to burn at least 150 calories a day Absolute minimum is 30 min 5 days a week Preferred---- for teens 60 minutes everyday of moderate if vigorous can reduce to 3X If tend to be overweight need minutes daily Every extra minute is beneficial

SO HOW DO WE KNOW IF OUR EXERCISE IS INTENSE ENOUGH TO BE CONSIDERED MODERATE?
