What is ClassiFire ® ? ClassiFire is a patented Artificial Intelligence system used in the Stratos-HSSD ® range of Aspirating Smoke Detectors. ClassiFire continually monitors the environment and automatically adjusts operating parameters to maximise sensitivity. When it has conditioned itself to the environment, it does not need manual re-adjustment.
Advantages Very simple initial set-up. Constantly monitors the environment and adjusts sensitivity to allow optimal performance at all times, irrespective of occupancy.
ClassiFire maintains sensitivity at optimum level without nuisance alarms Advantages
Alarm Indicators A user-definable ‘AUX’ level can be set to any position on the bar graph from level 2-10.
Alarm Indicators A ‘Pre-Alarm’ level is set to allow early detection of fires.
Alarm Indicators When the predetermined level of smoke is reached the ‘Fire Alarm’ is activated.
Alarm Indicators In case of large fires there is also a ‘Fire 2’ Alarm
The Stratos LCD text display can display a wide variety of messages, keeping you informed about the detector’s condition and alarm conditions. General Indicators

How does ClassiFire work? ClassiFire ® sets the alarm flags at the appropriate distance from the histogram average level to provide the level of protection required. As the smoke distribution changes, ClassiFire ® updates the alarm levels to maintain the required level of protection.
How does ClassiFire work? When the detector is first powered up it will automatically go into ‘FastLearn’ mode while it generates a probability histogram of smoke density by sampling air from the environment. Over 24 hours, the system builds up a histogram to represent the standard range of pollution in the environment to reduce ‘nuisance’ alarms to a minimum.

How does ClassiFire work? Smoke levels will usually be higher in daytime and lower at night. If the sensitivity is set to a fixed figure there may be unwanted alarms during the day, or delayed alarms at night: An ideal detector needs to be able to be pre-set to at least two sensitivity levels to provide the best protection. ClassiFire does this automatically
How does ClassiFire work? ClassiFire ® uses two sets of histograms; the ‘day’ and ‘night’ histograms. –The ‘day’ or ‘active’ histogram reduces sensitivity to take account of normal working practices and minimises the risk of nuisance alarms. –The ‘night’ or ‘inactive’ histogram increases sensitivity to take account of lower smoke density during night/shutdown periods and maximises protection when the protected area is unoccupied. These histograms are dynamically and continuously updated to ensure that alarm levels are optimally set.
During the day, ClassiFire ® keeps the fire alarm level out of the ‘nuisance zone’, a set distance from the active histogram average level, based on the ClassiFire ‘Alarm Factor’ selected. FIRE Number of samples in each class Smoke Density

The fast histogram ‘mean’ tracks the smoke level and begins to diverge from the active histogram mean, taking on new data at the rate of once per second Number of samples in each class Smoke Density FIRE

How does ClassiFire work? In addition to detecting the change from ‘active’ to ‘inactive’ periods, ClassiFire ® also takes account of the time in which the change occurred. For example, if there is a change in working hours so that people leave at 6pm instead of 5pm, ClassiFire ® will adjust the changeover time by an amount proportional to the difference from the pre-set time. After a few days the system will switch over according to the new working times.
Easy to set up Set the detector’s clock and calendar. Set the Pre-Alarm and AUX alert levels if required. Set the day and night changeover times if required. Check the ClassiFire ® alarm function and set to the required level. Leave the rest to ClassiFire ® ! It’s that simple!
