WOOOOOOOOOOW! I didn’t see you there. Wait a minute! Are you a Smuggler or a privateer? I am Captain Jack Sparrow. I just traveled to the Sargasso sea. The Sargasso sea is a region in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. The ocean water in the Sargasso Sea is special for its deep blue color and exceptionally clear, with underwater visibility of up to 200 feet. The Sargasso Sea is 1,100 km wide and 3,200 km long.

The Sargasso Sea is home to seaweed called Sargassum, that floats on the surface of the ocean making an ecosystem where crabs, squid, small fish, and shrimps live together. These animals are not good swimmers and to survive they must hold on tightly to the seaweed. If not, they will die.

Other bigger and longer animals that live in the Sargasso sea are American eels and manta rays, dolphins, mahi mahis, and sea turtles. Young Loggerhead Sea Turtles use currents, such as the Gulf Stream to travel to the Sargasso Sea, where they use the seaweed Sargassum as cover from predation until they are mature.

Sargasso sea food web The food web has producers like seaweed, algae, and phytoplankton. It also has consumers like fish, sharks, and whales.

The Sargasso sea is different than the others because it is surrounded by a strong current. Pirate ships were discovered and found in the bottom of the ocean during the 18 th century.

Well that is the story of the Sargasso sea and… WOOOOW! My ship is sinking next to the port of England! I got to run ……………. Bye!
