Title I began in 1965 (ESEA) as a federal program to ensure equal opportunities for low income school districts. Through Title I, the federal government disburses money to school districts based on the number of low-income families in each district as determined by census data. The school uses its Title I money to supplement and improve educational programs offered to help ALL students meet state standards. What is Title I?

The Purpose of Title I… …. is to ensure that ALL students have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and State academic assessments.

As Title I School-Wide, we… Develop a School-Wide Plan Conduct a needs assessment/parent survey on the types of programs we offer and use parent input to guide our decision making on ways to help students We hold Parent workshops / presentations to train and inform parents about standards, assessments, etc… Use Title I Money to provide ALL students with services to help them achieve academic success We establish goals based on multiple pieces of data and determine how are we going to meet our goals through programs & interventions

School-wide Plan (SWP) School Improvement Plan SIP) The SWP and the SIP go hand-in-hand. The SWP is the narrative plan and the SIP is the action plan… both designed to help ALL students obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and State academic assessments.

10 Components of the SWP The SWP is developed by a group of stake holders (administrators, teachers, parents and students ) who look at various forms of data to determine goals and needs as a school. Title I Funds

How we receive Title I funds? All schools in Ware County participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) This programs allows us to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students It eliminates the burden of collecting household applications to determine eligibility for school meal programs Everyone benefits  Students—access to free nutritious meals for all students  Parents—no household applications means less paperwork and no worries about lunch accounts  Schools—streamlines meal service operation

School Goals for End of Course Milestones All students taking an EOC Milestone will score above the RESA and state average for Meets/Exceeds at the end of FY2016 with a minimum of 95% participation rate. Graduation Rate The Graduation Rate for All students will improve with a 1.5% increase from 85.6 % at the end of SY2015 to 87.1% at the end of SY2016 Attendance Increase Average Daily Attendance by 3% for the school year Decrease the percent of students with 6 or more absences from 67% to 50%

C.C.R.P.I College Career Ready Performance Index

College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) Georgia uses the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) for state accountability purposes. The CCRPI is like a REPORT CARD for schools. CCRPI has multiple indicators to determine a school’s performance, rather than using a single test score given at one point in time.

Progress Progress Points are awarded for EOC courses that show areas of student growth. Achievement Gap Points are awarded for “closing the gap” from one year’s achievement to the next. ◦ The goal of measuring achievement gap reduction is to focus on increasing the achievement of the schools’ lowest achieving students (25%)

ED / EL / SWD Performance Points are given based on the progress and achievement on EOC assessments for our ◦ Economically Disadvantaged (ED) ◦ English Learners (EL) ◦ Student with Disabilities (SWD)

Exceeding the Bar Supplemental Factors that are considered: % graduates earning credit in Physics course % 9 th Graders earning 4 credits in content areas and those with disabilities, earning 3 credits. Title I – School Designation

WCHS School Designation: Ware County High School has not been given a school designation this year, which means we are a Title I school that is continuing to provide a quality education to all of our students. Our school status is directly attributed to the hard work of our students and staff. Our teachers and staff members work very hard to meet the needs of all students to ensure they achieve at their highest potential. This recognition shows that students are learning and making good progress. We are proud to tell you that WCHS has 100% Highly Qualified teachers and paraprofessionals.

Other School Recognition Additionally, Ware County High School was identified as… a 2015 AP STEM School (schools with students testing in at least two AP math courses and two AP science courses) a 2015 AP STEM Achievement School (schools with students testing in at least 2AP math courses, 2AP science courses and at least 40% of the exam scores on AP math and AP science earning a score of three or higher) WCHS received the 2015 Georgia Family- Friendly Partnership School Award for representing the best in customer service and parent engagement.

District Parent Involvement Plan The District Parent Involvement Plan outlines how the school district will put into operation programs, activities and procedures for the involvement of parents in all of its schools with Title I, Part A programs, consistent with section 1118 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). District plan includes the parts that would be found in the school level plan. The purpose of the plan to say how we are going to help our parents to help their child be successful. (copies of the District PIP are available in our Parent Resource Room and at the Board of Education)

School~ Family Compact The School~Family Compact is the signed agreement between all parties—parent/student/school stating how each party will help students be successful in school. Parent Involvement Plan This plan outlines how the school will involve parents and help them to help their children be successful.

1% Set Aside funds for Parent Involvement 1% of our Title I money is set aside for parent engagement. Parent Feedback is obtained through surveys. WCHS 1% Set Aside money was used this school year to purchase agenda’s for students. These agenda’s store a vast amount of information for students serve as a communication tool between parents and teachers.

Parent Right To Know Information Title I, Part A and Title II, Part A Parents have the right... To request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s) To know whether the teacher has met the Georgia Professional Standards Commission requirement for certification for the grade level and subject area in which the teacher provides instruction To know whether the teacher is teaching under an emergency or other provisional status through which Georgia qualifications or certification criteria have been waived To know the college major and any graduate certification or degree held by the teacher To know whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualification To be notified via standard mail when their child has been taught for 20 or more consecutive days by a teacher that is not highly qualified
