Why do people write letters?

Some reasons why we write letters: Apply or resign from jobs Say thank you Express sympathy Compliment or complain to a business Share opinions Persuade or influence others Inform others about events or services Stay in contact with others Apply for college or scholarships

What types of letters? Formal: Informal: Also called business letters Done on 8 x 11 sheet of paper Folded three times Specific Structure Use a business envelope for letter Informal: Sent to friend and relatives or people that you know well. Could be on a card, stationary, any size of paper. Casual
