THIS IS A WORLD SCOUT MOOT! The World Scout Moot is an official event of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), specifically designed for young people aged between 18 and 25 years inclusive. It is held every four years and is like a mini World Jamboree for older aged Rover Scouts (Venturers). The purpose of the World Scout Moot is to provide an international and intercultural learning opportunity for young adults that share Scouting’s values.

WHEN & WHERE When: July 25, 2017 – August 2, 2017 Where: Iceland
WHO CAN ATTEND Participants must be between 18 – 25 years of age (born on or between 8/2/91 and 7/25/99) International Service Team (staff) must be age 26+ with a preference for ages 26 – 30 years
INTERNATIONAL PATROLS All participants will be divided into international patrols, consisting of 10 people each. Members of a patrol participate as a unit in program activities during the Moot. The patrols will be formed during the spring of 2017 and the patrol members will be encouraged to get acquainted over the Internet prior to the Moot.

EXPEDITION PROGRAM OPTIONS The first half of the World Scout Moot the participants will be based at different Expedition Centers, mostly in the South of Iceland but also some in the West and the North. Each Expedition Center will offer a program in three key areas (A, N, C), with each Center being graded 1-3 depending on the program emphasis of each Center.
EXPEDITION PROGRAM OPTIONS Physical activities and adventure – Focus on outdoor activities Nature and the environment – Focus on environmental protection, land compensation, learning and experience Community involvement – Focus on community learning history and entertainment

ALTHINGI The program during Althingi is organized into four program villages where the four Land Weights from the Icelandic Coat of Arms are the inspiration and protectors. Bull Village: environmental theme Eagle Village: historical theme Giant Village: lifestyle & health Dragon Village: arts & innovation
OTHER ACTIVITIES DURING ALTHINGI Youth Forum to debate world issues and what to do about them Cafes with live music Dances Trading Meet new friends from other patrols Typical camp activities such as climbing, canoeing, sailing, swimming, hiking, etc.
