BEGINNING OF 1 ST PERIOD POWERPOINT

CMHS August 21, 2013

Today is the first day of the school year…. An opportunity for new beginnings and a fresh start!

In order to get this year off on the right foot, we are dedicating the day to teach you about an important concept in our school… we call it “The Warrior Way.”

At Crete-Monee High School, we live by the “3 Bes” The “3 Bes” are school-wide behavioral expectations that all students and staff should adhere to Does anyone know what the “3 Bes” are?

The behavior matrix helps outline what the “3 Bes” look like in various areas of the school You will see the behavior matrix posted throughout the school to remind you of the behavior we expect from all Warriors

Use positive and appropriate language with staff and students Follow staff requests the first time they are given Be attentive in class Be considerate of others and their property

Arrive on time to classes and lunch periods Be prepared for class by bringing homework and all necessary supplies and materials (books, writing utensils, notebooks, etc.) Wear IDs at all times above the waist Always make sure that electronic devices are off and out of sight

Inform any adult of any dangerous situation Know all emergency procedures Keep all areas of the school clean Use classroom material with care

There are many staff members and fellow students in the building who can help you live the Warrior Way!

Students will work in groups of two or three to create a poster depicting what respect, responsibility, or safety looks like at CMHS. Posters should be posted in the hallway at the end of the class period. Posters will be judged today during second period. The winning class will receive donuts and juice. The winning class will be announced at today’s all-school assembly.

END OF 1 ST PERIOD PORTION OF POWER POINT

BEGINNING OF 2 ND PERIOD POWERPOINT

Work alone or with a partner to create a song, a rap, or a chant about respect. Your words should tell why respect is important and how it could make your school a better place. Write the rap on a piece of paper and be ready to respect it to the group if called upon. Make a campaign poster about respect. Make sure you include the word “Respect” and two reasons why someone would want to vote for having respect at your school. Think of someone who is respectful and write a one page essay about why they would be a good friend and what things they do to be considered respectful. Come up with 20 statements that respectful people would say to put a smile on someone else’s face. Pick 5 to put on a poster and present to the class.
